Fashion Translations....love this

Fashion is a marvelous world with lots of happy healthy people. You don’t believe me? Try for two seconds to talk about what’s troubling you. You’ll realize quite quickly that no one wants to hear that, it’s just not glam. 

You learn to adapt. It ends up like this :

You didn’t hear? I decided to go free-lance! = I just got fired.

How is H. doing? Well, you know, he doesn’t get out much right now. He’s taking a rest. = He’s in rehab.

Our brand of diamond dog collars? Yeah, well, no, this season we’re taking a break from all that. = We just filed for bankruptcy.

I have a huge project with a huge client but I can’t really talk about it> it’s super confidential. = I just did a shoot for Target.

You wanna grab some coffee? (From someone who has never spoken to you before) = I’m looking for a job.

I’m a jewelry designer / I started a blog / I opened an e-shop!!! I’m so excited!!! =I’m trying not to completely disappear from planet fashion.

Yep, because if you’re gone for more than a season…

You are forgotten.

Best friend.

 

Happy birthday to my best friend! Today, my boyfriend Trevor turns 20 years old! Now for all of you older than me, which is 80% of the people I am friends with, 20 doesn't seem that old. It really isn't BUT now......well now there is no more 'teen' at the end of the number! ...to me it's slightly momentous.

But in the big scheme of things, age is just a number and maturity is a mindset.

I am so thankful to have Trevor in my life. From the day we met in 8th grade to the fast approaching ending of our sophomore year in college he has been there for me. He is my best friend and I love him so much!

Moments

A couple months ago I was on my way to China Peak, a nearby ski resot with my Dad, Kelly my sister, and Trevor my lovely boyfriend, and my dad said to me, "Janie, look outside and watch the sunrise. I know you never wake up this early, so you should watch and see how pretty it is!"
Of course, I went with the typical reaction any 19 year old girl would have at 6 o'clock in the morning, "Um, no I'm tired I'm going back to sleep."
....and back to sleep I went.

Fast forward to February, about a month or two later, I found myself sitting in Growth Group (aka Bible Study) being reminded by the book we are reading about the sunrise I didn't witness. We are reading a book titled One Month to Live (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!) and this particular chapter was talking about relishing in the small moments of life and cherishing the people around you. All of a sudden I thought to myself...

THE SUNRISE....I didn't watch it. I didn't see it. This is the moment they are talking about. A small little thing like watching the sun rise in the car with your Dad, sister and boyfriend. I spoke up and told the girls what had just happened. My somewhat saddening 'ah-ha' moment. I realized that was one of the few "full circle moments" I've had in the past year. Where you clearly remember how you were feeling in the past moment, in the moment that you are reminded of it. It's a crazy feeling if you don't think you've had one.

What I'm getting at is...relish in life's small moments. Because in all honesty, those small moments are making up your life every single day.

Today, my sister, my dad and I drove up to China Peak to ski. Although my dad didn't tell me to, I watched my sunrise.
