Fashion Show 2012

On May 3, 2012 the Academy of Art University had there annual graduate fashion show. The collections were absolutely breathtaking. I had the opportunity to usher at the first showing of the graduate collections open for viewing to students, the public, and parents. From the second I got to the Cannery, the mood was intense! The runway, in a unique horse shoe design, was shining in bright lights as the camera crew got everything running smoothly before the big show started. Right before the madness started I was able to sneak backstage and snap a quick picture.

As the show started the collections took the audience by storm. I took some pictures of my favorite pieces including this collaboration with a senior fashion designer and a jewelry designer. The grand necklaces, if you could even call them necklaces, were in such harmony with the bright colors and patterns it was a beautiful arrangement. The bracelet (on her right hand) started at her forearm and came down caging in the entire hand, talk about amazing! The colors, textures and patterns really compliment each other, really pulling off the 'busy' trend.

Besides the awesome jewelry and fashionably twisted metal, one of the looks was accompanied by this larger than life tote. Created by what looked like different textiles and the same twisted metal in the previous picture, this looks like the new Mary Poppins bag of the 21st century.

Another very pleasant surprise was one of the menswear collections! I absolutely loved the monochromatic look. It looked so sharp and clean especially with the tailoring details. The mood was a suave, sophisticated, and crisp.

Overall, the fashion show was one of the best shows I've seen. A lot of the collections were tailored to perfection! It is always an honor to be at the graduate show and it did not disappoint.

Congratulations to all of the graduates!
